Marilyn in Fall

Some days it's harder to pick out outfits than other days. I've noticed that during fall I like to dress more casual than during the summer. I guess my mood just tones down more. Hence, my oversize denim shirt, jeans, and of course, Marilyn Monroe.

Disappointment

Today I decided to snoop around. And of course, that always leaves me disappointed....
And I don't understand how people can be so different, almost apart from themselves when with someone else. I don't understand. And if you are simply trying to hide somethings, there's no point in it. There is no point in it when you are serious about the other person. It doesn't make sense to me. And when I see the other side, it makes me not want to go on. Makes me want to just end it.

Why I Overthink things.

I think I think too much of things so that I could see the truth, the reality. I force myself to look at the bad, because so much is based on that. To look through everything, every aspect, every good, every bad, and see what I really should see. Whether disappointing or not, it has to be clear to me so that I could know what to do, which step to take.

As the Sun Goes Down

I love the gold detailing on this bag, I'm so proud of finding this bag, it was thrifted and only about $2! I've gotten lucky with some of my purchases. I feel like the cutouts on the shoulder of this shirt might look odd, but I absolutely love it, it adds something interesting to a simple striped shirt.

60's Vibe

So I've noticed I love a little piece of fashion from every decade. I'm usually not too big on 60's fashion, but I do love the bold colors and prints, as you can see from this outfit. I'm very big on whites, and light colors, so this was one of my favorite outfits. You can never really go wrong with light colors, they're so crisp and clean that it easily makes something a classic.

Marilyn M.

Ode to Marilyn

I just had to put this outfit together. Or better yet, I just had to wear this shirt in honor of my fascination for Marilyn. The skirt is a big favorite of mine, I love the fit, how it just drapes over and the color definitely stands out. My mom told me it reminded her of Julia Roberts' dress in Pretty Woman. haha. This is just an example of how to dress up what would be a casual shirt and make it into something much nicer. High waisted skirts tend to be the best pick for the combo, simply because they automatically change the outfit. Add a little belt if the skirt is a bit loose at the waist, or if you just want to make the outfit blend or to look a little more put together.

Dressed Down

An easy transition from dressing up to dressing down is by simply changing the accessories. What I did was change into my red sneakers and took off most of the jewelry. It's surprising how a subtle change can have a big effect on an outfit! The outfit almost looks patriotic, but just a little more summery instead. And the red sneakers go very well with the ensemble.

 Sneakers: Target $15

Cloud Sent

I really enjoy this outfit. I had been searching for white jeans to wear for summer, and I finally found them. The denim peplum top is an oldie, but definitely a goodie, matching with almost everything. Sometimes you have to be careful with peplum tops, though, and pay attention to where it falls on your hips. I wouldn't really recommend wearing peplum tops if you're self-conscious about your hips or thighs as they tend to accentuate that area. The ensemble reminds me of cotton candy, or clouds. Cloud Sent.

Up to Down Dressing

These two outfits both work so well together. With only two same pieces, I dress up, and down by simply changing the accessories.

Caught laughing!

I just love the eyelet detailing of this dress. So pretty.

White is Spring

This little white dress is cute, fun, and a perfect length. I love that it ties on each shoulder, giving it a feminine and delicate feel. With an all-white dress, I chose not to add too much jewelry, since I didn't want it to take away from the dress. However, you can pair any color of shoe and it'll surely pop. I paired this with my ankle strap heels from payless.com, a blush colored clutch I purchased at a thrift store downtown, and a blue bracelet my mom brought me from her trip to Mexico. Simple, but pretty.

I'm wearing Sinful in Kryptonite nailpolish.

The ring is from a small store back home.

One of my favorite outfits of this shoot. I forget how much I like this skirt, and how it flares out, giving it a bit of a retro vibe. I got this skirt at a store at the mall, Bloom, along with another printed skirt similar to this one. The wedges were thrifted- I've found them to go well with so many outfits no matter what style. I also like them because ankle straps help give the appearance of a longer leg while still being pretty comfortable as they are a wedge. Hence, why they're my favorite heels. The purple top is actually a long vest that I tucked in but left the ties out. It made it look nicer, and a bit more fun. The necklace is from forever21.com

The skirt fits a little big on the waist, but belts really do work wonders. If you have skirts that fit you a bit big, it's easy (and creative), to throw on a belt over it to tighten it. The same applies to loose fitting dresses. The belt was thrifted and the watch is also a thrifted vintage gucci.com watch. The delicate necklace I made myself.

Most of these pieces are actually pieces I've owned for a long time. The shoes I bought at Jcpenney.com about 4 years ago, the skirt was thrifted, and the shirt is from Wetseal.com I purchased about 2 years ago. I love the color of this skirt, which is why although I don't wear it often, I don't think I could get rid of it. And besides, you always need a nice neutral colored skirt that you could pair with almost anything. The shirt is a cropped shirt, and I absolutely love the comfort of this shirt, sometimes I even sleep in it but I also love the casualness of it. It's easy to pair casual pieces with some dressed up ones, to balance the outfit out.

I finally found some nice boyfriend jeans at the thrift store a few weeks ago. I hadn't seen any that caught my eye, but these I do enjoy. Boyfriend jeans can make an outfit completely different and unique, as long as the fit is the right fit. However, since they do have a very casualness to them, it's best to pair them with a type of heel, wedge, or flats in some cases. Heels and wedges really help the outfit look more feminine as to wearing a flat shoe. I also prefer them because I'm quite short, and can't really get away with wearing boyfriend jeans and flat shoes. The wedges and clutch are both from Target.com, the blue tank top I ordered from Forever21.com, the watch is a vintage Gucci.com watch and the wooden ring was thrifted.

Chic-vintage

I found this wallet at http://cochrans.com/mercedantiques/ at a bargain of only $5. Super good steal. The tan wedges I found at a boutique downtown, I was so excited to find they were my size. By far my favorite pair yet. The shorts at a thrift store. I've found so many good bottoms at the thrift store. Don't be afraid to look in the most unlikely places for even the most random things. The bracelet is from the same boutique. Boutiques have some of the best and rare jewelry.
